(MALUAL NORTH)-Body of fallen ex-governor arrives in Malual North for burial


The body of former Northern Bahr el Ghazal governor gen. Akot Deng Akot arrived in Malual North where burial is expected to take place on Friday. The gen. has passed away in Sudanese capital, Khartoum last week.

Death details are not yet to be confirmed up to now.
Speaking to Voice News Agency on Friday, Lol State police commissioner, Major General James Simon, confirmed the arrival of the fallen governor and said burial process is taking place at his hometown, Malual North. 

Regional governments from Aweil East, Aweil State and Lol states gathered in honoring general Akot for his successful efforts in national building.

On his part, Abraham Kawach Garang, youth representative in Malual North, said the death of general Akot is a great defeat to Malual community and South Sudan at large. He added that the passed should be remembered forever for his well-done job.
“This morning we have received the body of fallen hero general Akot Deng Akot, after we received him, he was taken to Malual North. We have lost a great hero and freedom fighter,” said Abraham.  

The youth leader is calling entire youth to follow goods steps as Akot did in during his life time.


Akot was a freedom fighter after succession of South Sudan, he held various positions in police. In 2015 he was appointed as governor of Northern Bahr el Ghazal state by president Kiir.
 He was sacked at the same year and was given new assignment as assistant inspector general of police.

He was top ally for the former army chief, gen. Pual Malong Awan Anei.
He later removed from the active list after power struggle between president Kiir and former army chief of staff gen. Paul Malong in 2017.
