SSPM/A elects general Abdel-Bagi Ayii as new movement chairman


 (WAR-AYEN 26FEB)  The high command of political and military of the South Sudan Patriotic Movement/Army known as (SSPM/A) in a three day national convention held in War-Ayen, between 23-25 Feb. 2019,  has come up with resolution of removing and appointing new carders for the armed movement.

Gen. Abdel-Bagi Ayii Akol  was elected to replace Costello Garang Riiny the founder of the South Sudan Patriotic Movement/Army.

General Agany Abdel Bagi, the son of Abdel- Bagi, was appointed as new deputy chairman and chief of the general of South Sudan Patriotic Army.

Other elected movement senior staff were Malong Majok Yor, Secretary General for the movement, while Malong Thiik elected as new spokesman for the movement respectively.

Speaking to Voice News Agency on Tuesday in Aweil town, Malong Majok Yor, Sectary General for South Sudan Patriotic Movement/Army, confirmed their  commitment to the signed peace agreement between the government of South Sudan and armed faction.

He expresses support  to the  leadership under  of president Salva Kiiir Mayardit to implement the signed deal.

Malong said they (SSPM/A) have changed the leadership because the former leadership under Garang Riiny was intending to bring more violence to the people of the Republic of South Sudan.  

Malong stated that removal of Costello is good because he( Costello) has been away fro long time not caring challenges that face the movement and entire people of the country. 

The movement, according to Malong has gathered more than 1500 troops and now is available awaiting joining process at cantonment site decided by warring parties.

When asked to explain future of the movement since its top leadership held by one family of Abdel-Bagi Ayii, Malong stated that the nomination of the father (Abdel-Bagi Ayii ) and the son ( Agany Abdel- Bagi)  is in a wise decision.


He continued that Abdel- Bagi has good politics historical background, adding that his son was a greater thinker in army recruitment and mobilization for the movement, and by that reasons, they are qualified to rule the movement.
