JBPDA reorganization takes place in Northern Bahr el Ghazal

(AWEIL, SOUTH SUDAN Feb.21)Joint Border Peace Development Agency (JBPDA) announced restructuring its organs especially, executive and administrative Bodies. Constitution amendment is among other outstanding agenda for discussion.  

The organization is well-known with its previous and current efforts in resolving conflict, promoting peace among border communities across borderlands between Sudan and South Sudan.

The NGO has passed under different names since its formation in 198s during the civil war between the North and the South. In 2016, the NGO became national organization in the Republic of South Sudan.

 Over 50 members of general assembly for JBPDA met in Aweil state  since Monday -Friday to discuss future of the organization in serving marginalized communities.

Speaking to Voice News Agency on Thursday, Kawac   Wol Kuot, legal consultant and facilitator, said the meeting aimed at reviewing official constitution, adding that much progress is seen in the constitution development.

“We are reviewing the constitution; we are progressing with it now. The Joint Border Peace Development Agency is committed to support peace in grass root communities,” said Kawac.
On his part, Madut Aluk, Executive Director for Joint Border Peace Development Agency, expressed much achievements done by the organization in the past   decades in benefiting Dinka Malual, Missiriyia and Rezeigat tribes.
Madut stated that the ongoing session is to nominate new energetic young candidates to fill   seats of executive and administrate boards plus slight changes in governing constitution.

The NGO is responsible for supporting peace, joint border courts and free-trade activities, said Aluk.  He appreciates USAID with its continues support to the NGO.

“The changes will improve mandate of JBPDA in promoting peace, empowering border traditional courts,” vowed Madut.
