One suspected COVID-19 case records Gokmachar


Northern Bahr el Ghazal state government has announced one suspected case of COVID-19 in Aweil North County, a tasked task force sensitizes communities to precaution   measures.

Speaking to Voice News Agency on Wednesday, the Northern Bahr el Ghazal task force against COVID-19 Ater Garang said a foreigner who is working with the World Vision has felt unwell and so he approached the team about on the matter when sample was taken to Juba for verification. 

“What I heard is one of the case in Gokmachar because one person felt sick and thought that may be the issue is about COVID-19 and the sample was taken to Juba for verification,” said Ater.

The foreign humanitarian worker has been working for long time in Gokmachar, but doubts may be contacted with people who visited South Sudan recently amidst the outbreak, concludes the chairperson.

On his part, Dr. Reec Mathok Diing director for Aweil civil hospital and the member of task force confirmed that the suspect is imposed to self-quarantine at his house in Gokmachar.

Reec revealed that the patient was not happy with his health status and that forced him to call free hotline 6666 which is allocates for any suspect report on COVID-19. Reec admitted that the sample was taken to Juba and result will be announce immediately.

Light Medical House and Salva Kiir Primary school are the two identified isolation centers across Northern Bahr el Ghazal state.
