VISTAS trains youths on trauma and conflict mitigation in Aweil Town


VISTAS program under United States  of America International Development, USAID, has organized a five days workshop on trauma and conflict mitigation  in South South Sudan’s  Aweil State and  has been concluded on Friday.

More than 25 youths from different churches, civil based organizations and government institutions have participated in the training.  
Facilitators say, a lot of problems are happening in communities of South Sudan, these problems are resulted to many traumas. Especially current civil war and economic crises have left several people traumatized.
Looking into the situation  South Sudanese  people are facing, the VISTAS organization is implementing  training in many states of  South Sudan   with hope that citizens  will be able to address the trauma and conflict management in their regions.

Speaking to Voice News on Friday in closing remarks, Wol  Monychok, representative from VISTAS  in Aweil said, trauma awareness raising is important in the Republic of South Sudan. The official has noted that trauma has played negative role in the current crises. 

Wol said the organization is committed to aware people on what is trauma, sources of trauma and how people will handle it in their societies. All these efforts are done  to achieve peace in the Country, he explains. 

Representatives expressed their gladness and willing to apply what have they understood in a five days training workshop.

Speaking  also to Voice News,Alou  Abik Abik representative of trainees, has welcomed the training, reiterated   their eagerness to solve different trauma cases and problems that still affecting their communities. participants were awarded with certificates and are tasked to take the knowledge to grass root levels.

VISTAS also funds peace conferences for border communities between Sudan and South Sudan. It  supports  plans  for border communities to receive accurate news stories from both nations.
